I’m getting married! But- my fiance’s family is vegetarian (for religious reasons, which means I’m going with a totally meatless menu) so the food part of the wedding planning is confounding me. I need a vegetarian tapas – hor d’ouevres – appetizer menu that will still be filling enough to satisfy my carnivorous family. We are going to have a very simple budget-friendly wedding and I plan on getting together some family members and friends to cook the food ourselves the night before. The wedding itself will be in a state park at a group picnic site and a light lunch (more like snacks) will be served buffet style. Needless to say, there isn’t going to be the luxury of a kitchen or food preparation equipment at the venue.

I need recipe ideas! They must meet the following criteria:

+Can be prepared without too much hassle in about 100 bite sized portions
+Will keep overnight and stay edible on a picnic table in the sun for about an hour and a half
+Can be transported easily in a cooler

Bonus points for recipes that are hearty enough for meat-eaters or that look fancy and wedding-ish with minimal effort!

I need 8-10 good recipes! Go!

Chickpea and tomato salsa on garlic toast.
Fried peppers with garlic- get small red and yellow peppers, roast them stuffed with garlic , pine nuts and fresh herbs and soy cheese.
Rice balls- make a paella with walnuts, pumpkin and pistachios, size into small bite sized balls and cover with vine leaves.
Roast paprika and tofu, stuffed with peas and lentils. Roast the veg after boiling them, add garlic, red chili, some herbs. Stuff into small tofu pockets. You can buy theses cheap and easy at any Thai, CHinese or Korean shop.

Potato tortilla-it’s a potato pancake sort of. Easy to make. YOu then slices it into small diagonals is an easy shape. This is the first food I ate when we drove to spain when I was 8 and we lived in spain for a year after. It will always be the Spanish food I remember. It tastes lovely and nobody does not like it.

Roasted cauliflour in garlic and herbs, served on fried mushrooms.

Fried aubergine ( eggplant) with molasses- this is rather traditional.

Small gazpacho bowls. Make a huge gazpacho- this is poular with everyone. Make a pile of sturdy small cabbage leaves ( may need to buy a few tough crinkly leaved cabbages and make bowls).

Olive and tomato savoury corn cakes. Make a batter with the corn, add the veg and fruit, and bake with olive oil, or fry gently.

For decor- buy huge sprays of rosemary ( or pilch some from a local wild park) some mountain sage ( ditto) and arms of vines, like grape and figs vines. These grow like wildfire and should be seen around any neighbourhood. To decorate the greenery, scatter small white roses or petals, and bunches of grapes.

My fiance and I are planning our wedding. It’s about two years away. We’ve been thinking about having a mid-evil/gothic type theme, if you get what I mean. Not like chains or dominatrix stuff or anything, lol. I’m wondering what colors what be best for it. I was thinking dark purple, for example. Also, any ideas for decorations, etc.

WOW! I’m so excited to answer this question. I would suggest you guys have plenty of royal colors, such as deep purple, royal blue, emerald green, ruby red and gold. Depending on your budget, it would be so much fun if the guest wore medieval times attire.. Do you know those masks that goes over your eyes only, I think that the guest should wear them. They have the mask that you can hold up to your face or the ones you can put on. Because it will be your day, I think yours should be really big and beautiful with feathers. I had to go to a wedding, and i am in the pictures, was going to get my nails done but would like to get the look buy buying them so I don’t have to spend as much money. I just put 2 on, and u can see the glue underneath. Like a whiteish color. Do I just slide them on or press them on to get the glue spread out??

free things that reduce energy use and expense:

1. reduce water heater temperature to 120 degrees
2. wash clothes in cold water
3. use the air dry setting on your dishwasher
4. line dry clothes instead of using a clothes dryer
5. turn off lights when you leave a room
6. turn your thermostat up 2 degrees in the summer and down 2 degrees in the winter
7. air your vehicle tires up to specs + 10%
8. remove unnecessary items from your vehicle
9 change your computer’s power settings to reduce power use (turn off monitor after 5 minutes, etc)

low cost ways to reduce energy use and expense:
1. install a water heater blanket on your water heater
2. replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents

You know, me myself, I hate risk because I don’t have any to fix if mistake happening.

Even if I have a plan B, it cannot be sure problem will be taken care when go wrong.

At everyday life, there is many thing I want to do but won’t do it because of risk.

You may ask what I am talking about, I mean in general, business plan, wedding plan, dating plan, duty plan, budget plan, and traveling plan.

So is it true that successful person always have back up just in case if didn’t go as it planned to be?

I understand what you mean. I would say there are 2 major keys to explain this and understand it.

1) You must make a decision. Whether there is high-risk or low-risk, a decision and action must be made. It is important to be flexible and make minor corrections as issues arise, but stand firm with the overall goal.

2) No one should have 1 option or 2 options, but at least 3 options. Nothing will ever go according to plan, but having a couple of solid options is vital to succeeding.

Every failure I’ve ever had didn’t come from me not having a plan, it came from not following through on a plan.

It depends what you have in mind, and what things you are willing to do yourself. Dinner is the biggest cost. If you can find ways around that, just a cake reception, or only very close family invited to the dinner, a buffet bc they are a bit cheaper. If your able to talk prices down thats also a plus. Most times people are willing to go down. Instead of ordering things at a chain store, shop at independantly owned ones, they are more willing to help you out.

I have a 1997 Ford Ranger with about 154,000 miles starts and runs Perfect! ( kinda slow though). I was told to fill up on Premium Gasoline because my truck has a lot of miles, its old, and it will clean out my engine to make it last longer. I dont have the owners manual so i dont know if i can or cant fill Premium Gasoline in my truck. Can i do this and is this helping my Ranger or am i just wasting money?
